Cone in stainless steel, Ø500 mm, 3 mm thick.
Example of projected part in multiple steps. Part is used for food handling and surface finish is obtained during forming with no need for additional polishing.
Radar horn Ø 80 mm in stainless steel.
Made by metal spinning without any heat treatments.
Topflange welded on after forming.
Advantages by spinning:
All rotational symetric shapes are possible to form with little tooling investment. Is a bit slower than e.g deep drawing but part can often be finished with cutting etc. in one operation.
Stainless steel cone i 2 mm material, Ø450 mm.
Packing groove at big end and welded flange for valve in small end.
Surface finish is perfect for application without secondary operations.
Example of detail:
Packing groove made after forming of cone.
Liner with packing groove Ø100, Hastelloy C-276
Made by deep drawing and spinning.
Advantages of combining forming methods: The fast forming by deep drawing combined with details obtained by flowing material with spinning. Inside surface is very smooth due to the final spinning.
Robot welded fittings on deep drawn sweep.
Conventional deep draw in stainless steel, 1,5 mm
Just to show we do not only do round things :-)
Flow formed cylinder, shaped from 4 mm thick stainless steel cup, reduced to 0,5 mm material during flow forming. Thickness variation less than 0,05 mm over the cylinder.
Flowforming is cylindrical forming and is a great way to produce high precision cups and cylinders. We use a special machine with 3 rollers for this product.
Cover i annodized aluminium Ø200 mm
Combination of deepdraw and flowforming.
Olsen handle the sub contracting and deliver with surface treatment etc.
Big Ø900 mm cone in stainles steel, 5 mm
Projected in one pass and surface finish is without post treatment.
Perfect roundness and no welds, no sanding.....
Example of combined forming. Titanium Grade 1, 2 mm
First a deep draw, then flow formed on cylinder and shaped with flange.
No welds, minimum material scrap.
Cylinder with cone in 6 mm. aluminium. Ø400 mm, 1000 mm long.
Example of very extensive forming from blank. No welding or sanding needed. Due to the properties of aluminium, workhardning is limited thus ratio between length and diameter can be high.
Floats in Monel and stainless
High demanding floats for special applications. Pressure tested 100 %. Strength from work hardning by hydro forming followed by flowforming.
All shapes are possible
This is for decoration in Tivoli gardens, Copenhagen. Nice organic shape although made from steel.
Flange in Alloy 230, 5 mm thickness, Ø400
Metal spinned part in Alloy 601, 2 mm
After forming, 3D lasercut to obtain function as spring insert.
Metalspinned 4 mm stainless cone with fancy detail. An inside flange with bolt holes made by CNC spinning the edge in free form without tool support on the back.
Saves a weld and extensive sanding
Cone, Hastelloy C-276, Ø30 - Ø300 mm, angle 25 degree.
Made by projection. Starting thickness 4 mm, end thickness on cone, 1,2 mm.
Projection advantages:
- Very good roundness obtained and minimum work hardning.
- Great alternative to welded sweeps. Avoid sanding of weld is a major driver for this process.
- Very good surface finish is possible
Cut in projected cone
4 mm starting material projected down to 1 mm.
